It was an unusual launch for a movie trailer, embellished with dance and lots of masti. But it was not Remo D’Souza who stole the limelight, nor Prabhudeva, both ace dancers and choreographers. It was Siddharth Roy Kapur who attempted some fancy footwork alongside D’Souza and Prabhudheva, during the launch of the trailer of ABCD – Any Body Can Dance – directed by Remo D’Souza.

The film is India’s first dance movie in 3D and was launched in Mumbai on Tuesday along with Managing Director of Disney UTV, Siddharth Roy Kapur, and Prabhudheva and the rest of the cast.

Remo D’Souza on ABCD

ABCD is a dream project and I have been wanting to make a film like this for a very long time. I actually wanted to make my debut as a director with this film but things didn’t fall into place. The film has shaped up really well and I am proud to announce that it will be India’s first 3D dance film.

Remo on UTV

My dream wouldn’t have come true if UTV hadn’t supported us. Every single person in the UTV team has been very supportive and they understand my dream.

Remo D’Souza on Casting

I knew I couldn’t make this film without dancers. So I decided to cast choreographers in the film. To get them to brush up on their acting skills, we arranged some acting workshops for them. But, I must say, even before I wrote the script of this film, there was one person I wanted to cast and that was Prabhudheva.

Remo on Convincing Prabhudheva

When I went to meet Prabhu sir, I told him I had penned the story with him in mind. I told him that if he said ‘no’, I wouldn’t make the film. He agreed to do the role.

Prabhudheva on Remo

I did this film only because of Remo, because I have watched Remo start from scratch and he is also a great dancer. I also warned him that I was not as good a dancer as he thinks I am, and that I can’t match steps with these new choreographers.

Prabhudheva on Acting

I have acted and choreographed but am now more inclined to direct films. But I have always enjoyed acting and this film gave me a chance to dance and act too.

No Interference From Prabhudheva in Direction – Remo

In the very beginning, he told me he would do whatever I wanted him to do. But I used to ask him for advice on some of the shots. He chose to be an actor on the sets and did not throw any star tantrums.
